Drink Skinny Sour Apple Martini

I love the initial tang of sour apple martinis, but just can’t make it past the weird syrupy after taste and the faux green color reminiscent of a park bench…I mean, it looks pretty and all, but I don’t even want to know what kind of chemical cocktail (pun intended) they use to make it so dark.

Well, with the discovery of Absolut Orient Apple vodka, we were able to make a sour apple martini using Drink Skinny original that’s tangy and crisp, without any faux anything. We’re pretty sure you won’t miss the park bench shade of green.    ~Christy

Drink Skinny Red Wine Sangria

Sangria is one of my favorite recipes to make with our mixes. I love trying out different wine & fruit combinations, and never quite get the same concoction twice, but trust me, they’re all good!

When the temperature goes down a bit in the fall, we switch to red wine sangria mode. There are so many different reds available,  you can really adjust the level of sweetness in this recipe depending on the variety you choose (we typically use a blended red.) Try it out, and let us know what you think!

Drink Skinny Red Wine Sangria:

1 bottle of red wine (we like Our Daily Red organic California table wine–no sulfites = no headache!)

1 bottle of Drink Skinny pomegranate blueberry Margarita Mix

1 can seltzer

Fruit of your choice (we use mostly citrus fruits & throw in a few pieces of whatever’s in season)

1) Chop fruit & place it into a large pitcher.  2) Pour wine into the pitcher, filling about 2/3 of the way.   3) Next, pour Drink Skinny mix in (leaving room for seltzer).   4) Add 1/2-1 can of seltzer (to taste).  5) Add ice, stir, & serve!

Cheers!

Cucumber Martini Recipe Featuring Vermont Spirits Gold Vodka

You might call it an ultra-premium match made in cocktail heaven. Imagine an all natural, low calorie mixer made with the freshest juices and sweeteners from mother nature paired with a hand-crafted, small batch vodka distilled in the Green Mountain state…except, you don’t have to imagine it…it actually happened.

The full line of Drink Skinny Cocktail Mixers is now available at the Vermont Spirits Distilling Company gift shop in Quechee, Vt! And if you ask nicely, they might even let you sample them together.

To celebrate this new “partnership,” we decided to create a recipe that would really accentuate the crisp flavor of the Vermont Gold vodka that’s become our new favorite. Although this Drink Skinny® cucumber martini recipe is a little unconventional, we think you’ll  be surprised at how light and smooth it is. It might even become your new favorite!

Drink Skinny® Cucumber Martini Recipe (featuring Vermont Gold vodka)

Ingredients:

1.5 oz shot Vermont Spirits Gold vodka

2 oz Drink Skinny Original Margarita Mix

1 med cucumber

2 lime wedges

kosher salt & cayenne pepper

ice

1) Place kosher salt & cayenne pepper on a plate, making sure to add enough cayenne pepper to make the mixture mostly reddish-orange.

2) Rub the juice of one of the lime wedges around the rim of a martini glass, & place glass upside down on the salt and cayenne pepper mixture; set aside.

3) Peel & slice cucumber into thin slices. Places slices in a blender or chopper & blend until mixture is like pulp. Strain into a cup measure until you have 1/4 cup of juice.

4) Add vodka, Drink Skinny, cucumber juice, and ice to a cocktail shaker & shake vigorously. Pour into the rimmed martini glass & enjoy!
